What to buy for a teen bro?

Hey y’all – Happy New Year!

Just back from the break and next week is little brother’s 17th.

He thinks I’m an idiot. I think he’s an idiot. It’s love. Brotherly love.

Despite that I want to look after the fella and buy him something he’ll actually wear. He’s seriously into his Jack & Jones clothing right now and that’s right where I’ll be heading with my pennies.

If he isn’t too rude tonight he’ll be on for a pair of twist cuff chinos, even though I think they look daft on blokes. But I may just economise instead and go for a check shirt which I can nick after a few weeks when he has forgotten about it.

Where does he get his money from? I’m only six years older than him and I have to think about everything I buy and I’ve got a proper job (well, of sorts). I’m sure mum doesn’t just lay out cash all the time for him. Beats me.

Anyway. Republic, here I come for a touch of shopping.

Sean.

Are drop crotch jeans comfortable?

Of course not!

Cold bum, constant need to wear great looking undies, nagging from everyone over 30.

But if they look cool for a while then they’ll be worn the world over.

Was it MC Hammer that started it all? Or Jude Law?

At least when these guys got in on the act it certainly got the boys on the streets hooked.

Who knows?

There was a lovely piece in the Telegraph on the subject, claiming universal condemnation from girls. But that’s not true is it? Many girls like to see the droppies.

Must be nice to air your tackle now and then, but even that doesn’t make sense as all the boys wear their tight Calvins keeping everything in place.

Of course the great thing is that anyone over 30 can have the last laugh trying to pull their sons’ and brothers’ trousers up to a position better considered respectable.

The last word – if you have to wear them some times, just remember not to when you’re meeting anyone remotely straight or old. I had to send a lad from the office home to change a few weeks ago. I was embarrassed, my boss was furious, and the kid? Well, he was just being daft wearing them in the first place.

Does a hat keep the heat in?

Old wives tale, or fact passed down the ages?

For me a hat is a vital piece of kit over much of the year, offering personal air conditioning as well as sun protection.

The head doesn’t necessarily lose heat any faster than other parts of the body, but it just so happens that the head is the only bit we don’t naturally cover and therefore it becomes the point at which heat is lost by exposed skin.

Should you go out with a hat on and realise you don’t need it you have only to whip it off and into a pocket and you get the same sort of benefit as you might from shedding a layer.

Then in summer shed not your top cover! No, instead switch to a perforated hat and as the breeze passes through the holes you’ll benefit from a light cooling effect of the bonce.

Does a hat keep the heat in – well, yes, but not only that it keeps the sun out, the cold out, and gives light protection when brushing one’s head through bushes.

Essential wear for many occasions!
